First post should always begin with an introduction into why another blog exists on the internet. Simply, I love Asian food. I could eat it everyday and be perfectly happy. When I say Asian, that includes, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian, Korean, and any other restaurant or place to get food that is considered Asian in the twin cities. It's helpful that the Twin Cities of Minnesota has quite a few to chose from. For those of you who are not familiar with Minnesota, the Twin Cities includes Minneapolis, St. Paul and all of the outlying suburbs. I will also include, St. Cloud, out as far west as Willmar and even down south towards Owatonna. I like having my options open when it comes to finding food, both good and bad, and why not write about it.
Some of you also might be wondering about the name, Noodling Around. I love noodles, there hasn't been a noodle yet, that I've found, that I won't eat. I even tried sweet potato noodles(glass noodle) and liked them. They are an interesting texture but not much flavor on their own for a noodle. When I go to a restaurant, I tend to want the noodle dishes first, and then decide to try something a little different.
These posts will be about all Asian food, a sampling of what that particular eatery has to offer. I'll give you a fair assessment about the location, any pros or cons, service, quality of food, time it took to get food, and then of course, taste. Taste is a big aspect for me, as well as texture. I always ask myself; is this food good to eat, is it tasty or do I feel like I could have made better with a packet of ramen, some hoisen sauce and chili flakes? I kid you not, I have gotten a noodle dish that was so bad, I could have made better by cooking up my own ramen.
Now for a little about me, I'm an upper twenty something single female. My parents, having been well traveled, always wanted to incorporate food from around the world in our nightly dinners. My mom always wanted me to grow up with a good taste for food. Even though I was actually very picky as a child, I have since learned to broaden my food choices. I always liked chinese take out type food, and it wasn't until the last four years, that I really got a liking for other Asian cuisine, besides Chinese. I love curries, sushi, rice, and there isn't much that I won't at least try. There are a few things you won't see me try, but being in Minnesota, I'm pretty safe from anything too unusual.
I should be updating here fairly regularly, or at least every time I go eat or buy food from a new Asian place.
Enjoy!
